Don't bother. Go get a copy of picprg2.3b from my page:

It'll program any Tait style programmer. If you can get 16F628 parts
you can use the Trivial LVP programmer on my page.

There's no point in reinventing the wheel. Parallel port PIC programmers
and software for Linux (including Slackware which I use) are already
available.
