Okay, I suppose we might be having similar experiences here. I'm not at
all opposed to providing the hexdump of my home made 3.00.40. I guess
I can mail Andrew about that this evening.

One notable difference is that my two original microchip is its a 
17c44 @ 25MHz with UV erase windows. While the newer controllers 
are 17c44s @ 33MHz with no erase windows.

Is anyone using picstart plus firmware 3.10 with picp? 

Maybe I should just give-in and purchase the upgrade from a on-line
source.
