Basically, yes.

I usually do all the power first (by hand), and then let the autorouter handle 
everything else.  Set the line width appropriately for the first trace, and 
it will default to that for all following traces.  Sometimes I shrink small 
sections for clearance reasons, but that can be edited later.

A CAD program just treats power and ground as another "net".  It has no clue 
about how much current flows through a given net.  In fact, even if it had a 
clue, the actual through a given trace depends on the layout itself.  Plus, 
there are other factors about how much noise ("ground lift") can be permitted 
at each point.  In short, you do it by hand.
