Subject: (OT) Steppers anyone?

This is a little off topic but I am using a pic to drive it so I thought no 
one would mind. I am trying to run a stepper with a 12f675 PIC.
Does anyone have any experience with driving a unipolar stepper?
I'm having trouble with the timing or pulse width if you prefer. I only need 
one or two speeds and a reverse. As it stands I can't get any speed. I do 
know the motor is receiving the pulses, "it just ain't workin".
I can supply the code and a schematic of the circuit if needed.
