I have been recently introduced to pikdev, and I've found it a quite
interesting tool. I also took a look at it's device scheme and found it
to be very simply and functional. Maybe it can be of help to our friend
Rick?

My goals for now are to finish the already-mentioned changes to picp,
since my friend Antonio TodoBom currently depends on picstart to do it's
work on a micro$oft free environment. He is also studying the adoption
of alternative programming devices, but since the picstart costs money,
he decided it would be a good thing to get a use at them first. He's
currently sponsoring my programming efforts into picp and providing all
needed materials.

I would be glad to contribute to pikdev too. As I was saying, I found it
to be both a good idea and a good implementation. It's programming
feature is very extensible, because it works on a lower-level and as
such can be "patched" more easily, which is exactly where picstart plus
ceases to function. It's hardware is both simple and extensible. I love
that :-)

But for now on, I don't have much time resources, and a short-time
priority on finishing picp changes.

I must say I would prefer the idea of a recorder being a independent
entity. Pikdev and other applications which owns a GUI could, for
example, made use of both it's recorder and also use, i.e., picp as an
alternative, since many people has picstart plus or other programmers
and won't throw it away. Pikdev's recorder could also be an independent
program. That would help in production lines and/or environments where a
GUI is not required. For the point of the suite, it doesn't really
matter much if the recording is provided by internal routines, libraries
or external programs, providing the interface between them is made
consistently.

But, perhaps, that's only me speculating ...

Thank you,

Alexandre
