Subject: System lockup when scanning resolution at 1200dpi

I am using an Epson 1260 USB scanner.  I have download and install  
plustek-sane-0_44_9.tar.gz with SANE 1.0.8.  I am also running Debian 
with kernel version 2.4.19.  When I try to scan images of 1200 dpi the 
system will lock up and requires a reset.  I have tried with xsane, 
xscanimage and kooka, all with the same results.

I also noticed when doing a preview with kooka and then a second preview 
it too would lock the system up.  There were no error messages noted.

Am I exceeding the maximum supported dpi?
