Hi,

put the blame on me! I should point out, that pt drv is ONLY needed
for PARALLEL port scanner. The USB stuff is already in the SANE
distro included.
First step for you will be to load the USB subsystem including the
scanner module.
And then I'm afraid  there's currently no support for the 2300c.
If this device is compatible to the 2200c, then it should be no
problem to make it work, but that might be your job to find  this
out. Can you send us the product id (see cat /proc/bus/usb/devices)..
