I bought a PlusTek OpticPro UT12 scanner yesterday because it offers
comparably cheap slide scanning capablilities. I am able to see it under
/dev/bus/usb/devices (after installing 2.4.0-test8 and noticing after a
long while that you must set "USB enable" on my TYAN motherboard to see
anything on USB at all ...). Unfortunately the scanner is listed as "not
supported" in the sane project yet.

Before carrying it back to the vendor (installing Win is no issue): Are
there any plans making sane work with this scanner ? Are there any known
reasons that it will never happen ? Is there anything I can help someone
else writing code (I know C(++) but have absolutely no idea about kernel
hacking nor how scanners talk to the OS. But I am motivated.) ?
