Subject: can't make LIDE 20 work (fwd)
From: Gunther Reiszig

Hi guys,
I am unable to make my LIDE 20 scanner work under Suse 8.1.
Can anyone help?

Here is what I have done:

got the files plustek-sane-0.45-5.tar.gz.psgz and
sane-backends-1.0.11.tar.gz and put them in /tmp/

user# cd; mkdir sane; cd sane
user# tar xvzf /tmp/sane-backends-1.0.11.tar.gz
user# cd sane-backends-1.0.11/
user# tar xvzf /tmp/plustek-sane-0.45-5.tar.gz.psgz
user# ./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc
user# make

as root:
root# make install
root# modprobe scanner

now sane-find-scanner finds the scanner:
found USB scanner (vendor=0x04a9, product=0x220d) at /dev/usb/scanner0
found USB scanner (vendor=0x04a9, product=0x220d) at /dev/usbscanner

but scanimage -L says:
[sanei_debug] Setting debug level of dll to 12.
[dll] sane_init: SANE dll backend version 1.0.8 from sane-backends 1.0.11

No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different,
check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the
sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation
which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).
[dll] sane_exit: exiting
[dll] sane_exit: finished

What is wrong? What about modules.conf, dll.conf, plustek.conf or
canon.conf? I would appreciate any advice.
Thanks.
