Hi Terry,

first of all, there's no need to send the mail twice ;-)
Second, if I get this mail right, you try to compile and inst all the driver
module! You don't need this, it's, as mentioned on the download site
only needed for parallel-port scanner.
In the end you need only a precompiled SANE version 1.0.10 or higher,
don't use any version below, because of some severe problems with your models'
motor control. 
So again, it's enough to compile and installe SANE 1.0.1x and configure the
plustek backend - no additional kernel modules are needed - see also
the paragraph at
