Yes, I compiled both uhci and scanner as module. It doesn't help. I am
not so sure about the things in the /dev/usb directory. I have the following
there:

I read the /usr/src/linux/Documentation/usb/scanner.txt file. It says
these are for 'devfs'. Then I get '/dev fs support' compiled in. And got
the following:

debian:~# cat /proc/filesystems

nodev   sockfs
nodev   tmpfs
nodev   shm
nodev   pipefs
nodev   binfmt misc
        ext3
        ext2

Then what? I don't know. It still doesn't work.
