I have just received an Epson Perfection 1670 as a gift. The Epson Sane site
says: "The new EPSON Perfection 1670 is not and will not be supported by the
EPSON backend. It seems to be based on a similar design as the Perfection
1260, even though the name suggests that it is similar to the Perfection
1660. I have not seen this scanner myself, so I don't know if it will work
with the Plustek backend or not."
I now have to make a quick decision; do I keep it, or do I try to have it
returned. Does anyone here have any experience of this particular beast? I
have also heard rumers that the 1260 does not do very good film scanning
under Linux. (Which I intend to do a lot of.) Might this be another good
reason to reject it? Obviously I don't want to fiddle around with sending it
back and trying to replace it with a 1660 if I am going to be OK with this
one.
Thanks for any and all advice,
