It will also not work with the plustek backend, and never will be, as the 1670
uses some othe chipset as the LM983x...
Maybe the Epson own backend will support this device in future...

The 1260 is definitely not a good film scanner at all. I've not tested with
the Epson-Kowa backend but what do you expect from a 1200dpi scanner?
