Hi!

It seems you have found the way(tm) of how to deal with this kind of
canons scanners.

Here is the result of what I get when I use the new drivers

The first is just xsane scanned with no adjustments, the second with
increased gamma.

Compared with the win-600dpi.jpg (see below) it is now very close and
really useful quality.

Compare with the old driver/windows:

I scanned 3 images, two under windows in 300dpi and 600dpi and one in
linux at 1200dpi (lower resolution is even worse).
