Hi,

I have nearly the same problem, although I connected a 9636T on my new 
computer,
which was running with the same module and sane version on my old one.

The only clue I've got now, is an short sentence to the IEEE1248 at 
"known bugs" that
the device isn't recognized, which I found in the README of the 
plustek_driver.

I hope that is a hint for You.
