i tried, but i wasn't succesful. the result is the same.
as root user:
kombjuta:/etc/sane.d # scanimage -L
device `plustek:libusb:001:004' is a Epson Perfection 1260/Photo USB flatbed
scanner
but i can't scan anything. the debug-output seems to be the same.
as non-root-user no scanner will be found with scanimage -L.
