Hi,

the problem seems, that you're working on a PPC. The calibration code in
1.0.12 works currently only on x86 correctly...
In 1.0.13 (see the latest CVS on www.sane-project.org) contains code for PPC
too. You might try this one and make sure to set the option altCalibration to 
1. This should work, although I think that the quality is not that good.

But anyway thanks for this hint. I'll try and fix this before 1.0.13 will be
out.
