this in fact is bad! It seems, that the 660 does not really contain a LM9831
or higher.

Is it possible to open the device and to have a close look to the chipset?
Or can you do some usb-logging using USB-snoopy? The setup sequence
would be interesting. Probably we see, what's going on.
