hi

thanks to the flag hint to the configuration of the sane-backends, i was 
able to run scanimage with direct access using the 0x378 mem address

using setuid root i could run scanimage as a normal user

now, i have the best of both worlds (mind you a little security danger)

and now i dont need to boot in 2 kernels :-)
