First I got some trouble, but then I remembered that I had trouble
with my P12 (under Win98) about a month ago, and because of those
old trouble I did some changes with parport settings in my computers BIOS
setup. So the real problem was no problem at all, driver just didn't like
the wrong io address.

But now everything looks very, very nice. Scanimage gave me a nice little
picture, and I'm very with the result! Thanks again.

I think I had luck, because I really didn't read all those
SANE-documents, just quickly something about "Quick Install" and so on.
But your documentation about plustek driver was great help, just followed
instructions and... ...it works fine!

Yep, didn't want to spoil the joy of discovering it ;)
