And Keith is telling us that none of them use widelines. Heck,
I'd even forgotten they're in there, even though I implemented
widelines myself in Painter's Apprentice (back in '84).
If we could pry the Ropes code out of Nat Friedman, then we could
reorder subroutines in the X server executable to keep the
oft-executed code in the same page, so that infrequently-executed code
could be dropped. That wouldn't help the flash size, but it would
help the ram size.
Nat is unfortunately busy with Helixcode, but if someone can get him
to do a code dump, someone else could pick up development. Someone
who knows him. Someone who's close enough to him to wring his scrawny
neck until he croaks "Release early! Release often! Eric Raymond!
Richard Stallman! I give! Here it is!".
