I used to have the same problem and I fixed it by turning off the cursor
by echoing an escape sequence:
echo -e '\033[?1;0;0c'
but recently it also stopped working after I updated Linux kernel,
microwindows (latest), nxlib (0.45) and I have not fixed it since. I am
also using Busybox now.
I think new kernel (2.6...) and/or (missing?) driver and/or Busybox
introduced this problem again.
I am not even sure if the escape sequences work with my new setup
anymore.
I would be interested to know the fix once anybody finds it.

No, TEXTMODE is off, (ie. HAVETEXTMODE=N).

Thats probably the console cursor. Is HAVETEXTMODE=Y on?
