Well at least someone else has been having fun with this scanner - I thought I 
was the only one! :-(  All of the snipped above is pretty meaningless to me, 
but I do know that the patched kernel on both a Mandrake and a Debian box was 
unable to assign a driver to the scanner.  Eventually gave up on the project, 
leaving a win98 only box for the scanner.  If there is anything I can do to 
help please let me know, bearing in mind I am not a programmer!
