Unfortunately I couldn't find a driver for this scanner. Primax does not have one an TECO the real producer does not come back with any answer. Does anyone know how to make the Jewel 4800 SCSI work under Linux ?? Thanks a lot Michael Hoeller

It was sold by Primax and produced from TECO as far as I know. The scanner is recognized but not detected .. I hope that some one has a hint for me how I get this scanner to work.. That is what find-scanner says: find-scanner: found scanner "Primax Jewel 1.01" at device /dev/sg1 I have set the softlink and the rights That is from /proc: # cat /proc/scsi/scsi Attached devices: Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00 Vendor: IBM Model: DCAS-34330 Rev: S65A Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02 Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 04 Lun: 00 Vendor: Primax Model: Jewel Rev: 1.01 Type: Scanner ANSI SCSI revision: 02 Host: scsi1 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00 Vendor: LG Model: CD-ROM CRD-8320B Rev: 1.28 Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 02 Host: scsi1 Channel: 00 Id: 01 Lun: 00 Vendor: HP Model: CD-Writer+ 8200 Rev: 1.0f Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 02 That is from scanimage -L: No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different, check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages). -> Done, but no luck. It seems that it scanner is not supported.... Bad luck? But maybe there is a work-a-round? Are there simmilare products which drivers I may can try? Thanks a lot Michael :-)
