Optic-Pro 4831P RedHat 7.3 Driver won't load - no memory ?
From: Peter Lubke ####@####.#### Date: 12 Sep 2002 03:40:22 -0000 Message-Id: <3D800E15.5090700@optusnet.com.au> I love some help, advice on this subject. The driver for my scanner won't load. It seesm to initialise okay, even turns on the scanner lamp, but the driver never completes loading and eventually fails with: pt_drv : no device(s) detected, (-9020) Hmmm, Well I looked through the archives when this happened. I followed a number of suggestions. * rebuilt kernel without IEEE 1284 support * changed printer mode from bi-directional to EPP 1.9 * unplugged my BJC-210 printer * recompiled pt_drv with DEBUG=yes Ummm, no change at all. Still not loading - although I now get the additional messages in the log files: see attachment diags4 (which is identical to diags1, diags2, and diags3 - which were previous attempts using different parameters). The problem seems to stem from: Bank 0 overwritten found 0 bytes of memory No memory ! No scanner What does this mean? How can I fix it? (Can I fix it?) Please don't suggest testing the device under Windoze. Kernel is 2.4.18-3 almost completely modular - config file available on request if required. Machine is a Pentium Pro-200, 128 Mb RAM, Phoenix BIOS (Digital Celebris GL), onboard Tulip ethernet, ESS1888 soundcard, additional Realtek ethernet card, has a Voodoo2 3D accelerator, onboard Matrox Millennium 2D graphis card, and a Logitech USB Quickcam Express attached. Additional devices include a Creative Cobra gamepad, and a BJC-210 printer. Thanks in advance to anyone that responds. To distinguish between the different models the driver will check the amount of memory. It seems, that the driver could not switch correctly to EPP mode. Please retry with forceMode=0 and plain SPP mode to see if this works... Gerhard | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
