Here's a rough explanation of how to go about getting a change applied.

Get the latest version (currently 0.89pre6) and extract it. Verify that
the problem hasn't already been fixed.
Copy the microwin directory to microwin-new or similar.
Make the modifications in microwin-new and verify that they work.
Do a "make distclean" in microwin-new.
In the directory above microwin and microwin-new do:
diff -urN microwin microwin-new > thing-that-you-fixed.patch
Open the patch in your favourite text editor and make sure it doesn't
include anything which is irrelevant to your patch such as autogenerated
files, modifications to src/config, etc. You can hand edit it to some
extent to remove irrelevant changes, but be careful not to corrupt it- if
unsure, try applying it to a clean source directory with "patch -p1 <
thing-that-you-fixed.patch".
Gzip it.
Email it to Greg ####@####.#### along with an explanation of what the
patch changes and why. If you have made a lot of changes, put it as a list
of changes with one change per line so that it can easily be added to the
Changelog.
Fix any problems which Greg points out.
When the next version of Microwindows is released, check that your fix
made it- if not, start again from the beginning of these instructions.
