I wondered the same thing for the longest time. I eventually found it via the
GnuStep site.

You can get a pdf here:
http://www.gnustep.org/resources/documentation/ObjectivCBook.pdf

and an HTML version here:
http://developer.apple.com/techpubs/macosx/Cocoa/ObjectiveC/index.html

I am not sure if you would rate it as really good, but it seems to be what most
people are using.

About the same number as Windows apps, hence MicroWindows.

I have ported Motif to the Agenda PDA, and found it great using our GUI builder
to generate apps for it. I can test the code locally, gets all artsy with my
GUI, and then send it via NFS to the PDA.

People laugh, since Motif is such a giant compared to FLTK, but I figure that
something like the current iPAQ will be extremely low end in a year or two, so
I may as well shoot high in order to hit the target.

I figured that a nice OOP language like objC plus an OpenStep API would be good
for widgets, since it provides much of the handiness and elegance of Java with
the speed of C in a time tested API like the one used on NeXT.

For a lot people, the Mac OS/X will be considered their first intro to a
mainstream, hands on, Unix for the desktop. If they move their development
from desktop to PDA, then they will want the Mac equivalent of MicroWindows.

So, I think GnuStep running on top of NanoX on a PDA is as good idea to think
about for future development as MicroWindows, even if it only gets the widget
code down.

Currently, there is no Mac equivalent to PocketPC, so Linux on a PDA with
GnuStep might fit the bill.

[At the moment, I am looking at making modifications to GnuStep so that it can
use Gtk+ themes. Even though there is a Aqua theme that will make it look like
OS/X, there are many others.]

If you think I am just spending to much time alone in front of my computer, let
me know. Friendly reality checks are aslways welcome!

Robert
