Does anyone know of a good place to find bdf or rom based fonts for
converting to mwin format. I need some pretty big fonts.

You can get some free freetype or other TrueType fonts and use Windows,
if you have it, to expand the font to your desired size.  My 
convfnt32.exe then will draw the font to the screen and capture each
character...
