The problem is not the driver or a potential bug, the
problem is the scanner and its name itself.
Plustek has built at least 3 scanner with the name
OpticPro UT12 - and each of them includes a different
chipset. Only two of them are supported, LM9831 and LM9832
with the product Ids 0x0013 and 0x0017 as stated in the list.
The device with the product Id 0x0001 IS NOT SUPPORTED.
It contains a GrandTech chipset (GT-6801 I think), which is maybe
supported by a backend which can be found at:

http://www.mivlgu.murom.ru/~vsu/gt68xx/

or you might have a look at
http://www.btinternet.com/~salet/

But note, you might have to tweak the code yourself or work
together with the author to make the UT12 work

Sorry about that
  Gerhard
