I stepped back to Sane-1.0.1, then built the device by hand (mknod /dev/pt_drv c 40 0 thanks Kevin for the dev entry). Scanner is working great. Xscanimage is flying. The scanner works faster under sane then it ever worked under Win95/98. Vielen Dank Gerhard and the rest of the plustek hackers out there!
