Interesting to note that the original version of the TEA algorithm was used
as a hash function to verify an initial boot loader in the Microsoft Xbox,
and was cracked in few days by the Linux Xbox hackers, with help from folks
at sci.crypt.

I guess I don't know enough about crytpo to know how this impacts TEA as an
encryption algorithm, but as a hash function it is very poor, certainly the
first version.
