On a Windows machine you can substitute a path to a drive letter so the end
you will have a shorter path:

C:\> SUBST X: "C:\Documents and Settings\myUserName\My
Documents\Projects\PIC\myCurrentProject"

...now you can access to your directory with X: drive ....
