Hi Greg,
Sorry I should have said which version I am using.
CVS update says everything is up to date but I hape applied patches to the following files (probably not all were required but got patched trying to fix other issues) :
nanox/client.c - GrBitmap()
nanox/nxutil.c - GrNewBitmapFromData()
nxlib/CrGC.c - XCreateGC()
nxlib/Text.c - XDrawString()
nxlib/CrCursor.c - XFreeCursor()
nxlib/DefCursor.c - XDefineCursor()
nxlib/SetClip.c - XSetClipOrigin();
engine/font_pcf.c - patched as comments say for date 2005-07-14.

The patches are from the patch-0.92 directory on the ftp server although a couple were mailed to me via this list.

I don't think any of these patches would cause this problem but would be happy to unapply some to see.

It definately looks like one pixel gap needs to be added between the characters to make them look right. I am using the helvetica fonts that come with Fedora 6. I will look through font_pcf.c to try to understand what it is doing anyway.

with the correct spacing - the characters appear too close to each other so
that they tend to run into each other. This makes the text hard to read.

What version of microwindows are you running? There were quite a
few patches I applied for PCF display that are only in the CVS
version.

Regards,

Greg
