: I'm afraid I'm getting confuse about Microwindows and nano-X. I'm
: following discussions, questions and answers for a while, hopping to fully
: understand what's going on, but I don't seem to get it done. I would like
: to know what actually both Microwindows and nano-X are
Nano-X is a graphics library that implements an X-like api.
MicroWindows is a graphics library that implements the win32 api.
and which platforms
: and OSs are they being bult for.
Both nano-X and microwindows are built in the makefile.
They share the same lower-level driver technology.
Currently, they will both build and execute on:
ELKS v0.78
MSDOS
Linux 2.2.x with 8pp packed pixel framebuffer
Linux 2.x with SVGAlib library
At first I though they where built for
: ELKS only, but someone said he was testing it on Linux.
All my development is initially performed on Linux, I've got many linux
boxes...
There seem to be
: some DOS examples (what are they? perhaps trial binaries for DOS?) at the
: FTP site... I'm getting really confused now!
There are precompiled binaries for DOS and ELKS in the
DOSExamples and ElksExamples directories....
:
: Is there any documentation (I haven't been able to find anything)
: which I could read to clear up things?
Read the INSTALL file in microwindows source mwin/src/INSTALL.
Also see the readme.txt file in ftp://microwindows.censoft.com/pub/microwindows
I do need to build a FAQ, it seems. There isn't one yet.
I also would very much like to see
: some screenshots. Someone offered to provide some a few days (perhaps some
: weeks) ago... is there anythig available that I have missed?
I can't get the programs that read the /dev/fb0 framebuffer to work,
so I can't build any danged screenshots. The framebuffer is a very tricky,
hard to use design, IMHO.
