I feel foolish now. I had TEXTMODE=0 in scr_fb.c which was causing
all the problems. Thanks for the
reply, though.
For the others who might same problem: there is an
ioctl(ttyfd, KDSETMODE, KDGRAPHICS), which switches
the mode to graphics mode from text mode. This was
guarded by #if TEXTMODE. I had TEXTMODE set to 0
and so, all the problems.
