Greetings -
I've got the latest (Feb '04) microwindows running on a generic white box PC with PS2 keyboard & mouse and a stock fedora3 core 2.6.9-1.667smp .
The demos work with the video and mouse - and I can exit with the "break" key. The "grabkey" demo also works - it echos each key I press.
However, when I bring up a "nxterm" - I do not get a shell prompt and cannot enter any text.
After breaking out of a demo - I do get an error message to the console:
"Can't create pty /dev/ptyp0"
My fedora3 box (full install) doesn't have any ptyp*'s ... the fedora2 box did. The fedora people may have decided to ditch ptyp support?
I tried creating them on the fedora3 box:
mknod /dev/ptyp0 c 2 0 #Master
mknod /dev/ttyp0 c 3 0 #Slave
mknod /dev/ttya0 c 3 0 #Slave
chmod 666 /dev/ptyp0 /dev/ttyp0 /dev/ttya0
chgrp tty /dev/ptyp0 /dev/ttyp0 /dev/ttya0
But it doesn't help ... and I'm starting to hack randomly ;-)
TIA for any pointers - Mike

PS - getting microwindows mouse & video to work on fedora3 tips:
/etc/grub.conf:
Add a vga=0xxxx similar to this to /etc/grub.conf to get a /dev/fb:
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.9-1.667smp ro root=LABEL=/ rhgb quiet vga=0x31B
(mine is for a 800x1600 laptop)
/etc/rc.local:
Add a couple of lines to get the ps2 mouse & display working:
# kill old mouse driver
/usr/sbin/gpm -k
# start mouse driver in repeater mode
/usr/sbin/gpm -R -m /dev/input/mice -t imps2
# for non-root users to run the demos on the console
chmod 666 /dev/tty0
