ideas for other areas of responsibility:

- drivers / driver verification tests
- makefiles / build logic
- docs
- code style enforcement, or at the very least a codified style doc if
  one hasn't already been put into place.  (half the problems I've been
  having merging up with 0.90 from 0.89 have to do with tracking
  whitespace and formatting changes between the two.)
