I had the same problem when I cross-compiled for one of my projects
with uclibc on a MIPS problem. The issue is that the zlib directory is
not in the include path.
You can either modify the makefile to include the zlib library or you can simply
copy zlib.h and zconf.h files to your cross-compiling tool's include directory.
