You might be interested in http://www.pixil.org. It provides a GPL version
of major desktop components based on nano-X. There's also a browser based
on nano-X which seems to be quite reliable.
I don't think that there's a GTK2.0 port to nano-X but you could use
"nxlib" (a libX replacement for applications to be run on nano-X). You
would create a GTK2.0 app on your host, link it with the nxlib version of
libX and move it to the target.
