hi greg,
i kud compile the nano-gtk, with gtk+-1.2.10, and glib-1.2.7
i was able to rebuild all by ./rebuild pub
i set the environment also
but when Starting nano-X server by
./nano-X
i get the following
[root@localhost Testbench]# ./nano-X &
[1] 24717
[root@localhost Testbench]# nxclient: retry connect attempt 1
nxclient: retry connect attempt 2
nxclient: retry connect attempt 3
nxclient: retry connect attempt 4
nxclient: retry connect attempt 5
nxclient: retry connect attempt 6
nxclient: retry connect attempt 7
nxclient: retry connect attempt 8
nxclient: retry connect attempt 9
nxclient: retry connect attempt 10
nx11: can't connect to nano-X server
Cannot initialise keyboard
why is the nano-X server not connecting.
i need it to run my applications

A way to debug/fix these issues will be to find where
this symbol is used, then check older/newer GTK source
header files to see where the symbol may have been
defined. In some cases, lack of a #include will solve it.
You'll have to get into the code and start grepping
