I'm running a true color frame buffer on an Intel machine running Fedora 
Core 3.  Some lines from my config file:

ARCH                     = LINUX-NATIVE
BIGENDIAN                = N

SCREEN_PIXTYPE           = MWPF_TRUECOLOR888

I use "vga=792" in my grub.conf file which is 1024x768 24-bit color.
