Hello!
First of all let me start by telling how amazed I am by the just released
microwindows (nano-x) demo for the iPaq! It runs much better than anything I
had already running (which will be because the demo uses the latest nano-x
version which was not yet available?). I still think that nano-x is the way to
go for any current Linux PDA though there is still much work to do (double
buffering would be SO nice ;) I hope that I can contribute to it some day (a
flnx mp3 player is already in the works ;)
Though I wonder where I can find some of the sources that are used in the demo
especially the nxscrtop. I would very like to change some things in it (remove
the seconds from the clock, switch off display completely when tapping on the
backlight button, add automatic display blanker (yeah, that was me some weeks
ago)). I just browsed the sources of microwindows pre5 and could not find any
hint for it.
Anyway, great work!

Nils -

I was under the impression that the power management in kernel test17
was virtually nonexistent (except of course, for battery life
monitoring). I am unaware of any code that will actually turn off the
screen. So unless I am way off base, a screen blanker wouldn't be very
useful at this point, since the power would still be running the screen,
even if the screen is blank. Do you know of any code that will turn off
the power to the screen? If so, I would love to see it, because that
would make life really cool. Until then, I think that your best bet
would be to just turn off the backlight, so you could save as much power
as possible, but still see something on the screen.

Let me know if I am barking up the wrong tree.

Happy hacking!

Non existent is a bit too much.
There is the CPU clock scaler and PM based on APM is in the works.

You can turn the display off completely and thus save power:
  ioctl(fd,FBIOBLANK,VESA_POWERDOWN)
does the trick.

This should just be phase 1. After more inactivity the display should shut off
completely and then after another timeout the whole thing should go to sleep.

Hmm ... almost seems so ;)

Also!
I have attached a complete blanker source. Now that you have my source would you
share nxscrtop's source with me?
