press ^P or call the GdCaptureScreen function,
it's in src/engine/devopen.c.  The CVS version
will create a .bmp file directly using the
bpp of the display.

Hi,

You could use gimp. It is available on linux.
In the "xtns" menu, there is a capture screenshot option.
