When the file pointercal is used? When we start nano-X? Then how to explain that earlier, when we put onto iPAQ pointercal numbers produced for the bigger screen size, it affected not only nano-X, but even X windows? You've got to make sure you're running the correct drivers/mou*.c mouse driver that opens /etc/pointercal on initialization. WRT to X, it may be that X is running with a tpcal mouse driver as well.
