The IP address is wrong. 166.70.186.59 is an also address.

The real address of cvs.microwindows.org should be 64.122.179.4.

Try
cvs -d ####@####.#### co microwin

Greg, apparently I'm not the only one who has problem with the DNS ..
are you really sure everything's fine with cvs.microwindows.org ?

pinging cvs.microwindows.org sometimes go to 166.70.186.59 and sometimes
 64.122.179.4 ...

cvs.pixil.org seems to always point to the correct address,
while both cvs.nano-x.org or cvs.microwindows.org point most of
the time to the old IP address.

so as a temporary solution, it should be safe to use cvs.pixil.org
