From: ####@####.#### Date: 21 Apr 2007 19:58:11 +0100 Message-Id: <31617593.1177181852535.JavaMail.root@elwamui-norfolk.atl.sa.earthlink.net> Hi, Cirrus makes EP9307, an ARM9 SOC, which includes support for Linux Frame Buffer. /dev/fb0 exists and there is Tux logo at bootup. Compiled nano-X for Frame Buffer (16bpp, 5/6/5 packed per FBSET & fb.modes) but get totally black screen (even Tux disappears) any suggestions what is wrong? thanks very much

Run bin/mdemo for initial testing, this doesn't require a seperate nano-X server (which will blank the screen on startup) and application program (which if it doesn't connect will leave screen black as above) Regards, Greg

I enabled the MICROWINDOWS settings in config but mdemo or any of the m* files didnt show up. Then went back to the config successfully used for the X11 (Fedora development server), enabled microwindows and saw the m* files. Mdemo is very nice my ARM config was based on the .ipaq template. Therefore since X11 config is working, customized that instead and now have nano-x / nanowm / nxclock / world / tuxchess (impressive) / etc running on the Cirrus! mdemo did not work on cirrus though, complains of 'Cannot initalize mouse' but mouse is fully operational I'm going to start a new thread (to keep archive clear) about trying PIXIL and ViewML Thanks again! -----Original Message----- >From: Greg Haerr ####@####.#### >Sent: Apr 21, 2007 5:07 PM >To: ####@####.#### ####@####.#### >Subject: Re: [nanogui] Nano-X on Cirrus ARM/frame buffer ? > >: Cirrus makes EP9307, an ARM9 SOC, which includes support for Linux >: Frame Buffer. /dev/fb0 exists and there is Tux logo at bootup. >: >: Compiled nano-X for Frame Buffer (16bpp, 5/6/5 packed per FBSET & >fb.modes) >: but get totally black screen (even Tux disappears) any suggestions what is >wrong? > >Run bin/mdemo for initial testing, this doesn't require a seperate >nano-X server (which will blank the screen on startup) and application >program (which if it doesn't connect will leave screen black as above) > >Regards, > >Greg > > >--------------------------------------------------------------------- >To unsubscribe, e-mail: ####@####.#### >For additional commands, e-mail: ####@####.#### >
