When I display a graphics window on the framebuffer display, a flashing
square text cursor overwrites the bottom left corner of the display.

I read in the archives to set TEXTMODE to Yes. But doing this causes nano-X
to abort saying 'cannot Initialize Screen' and 'Innapropriate ioctl for
device'

Are there any other methods to eliminate the text cursor?

thanks,

You might need to recompile the kernel to turn off text mode
consoles. Otherwise, for some reason the nano-X code
that requests the kernel to turn off the text mode cursor
is failing due to possibly an outdated ioctl and might need
changing. IIRC there may be some other options in the
source (near the TEXTMODE defines) that might also
be set.
