Hello,
I am having a tough time getting my canoscan n1240u to work with sane
I built and installed sane-backends-1.0.9 with plustek-sane-0.45-1 and
plustek-0.45-TEST4 updates.
I added:
    [usb] 0x04a9 0x0220e
      device /dev/usbscanner
to the /etc/sane.d/plustek.conf file

I added the following line to /etc/modules.conf
   options scanner vendor=0x4a9 product=0x220e

I didn't have /dev/usb/usbscanner0, so I created them with:
    mknod /dev/usb/usbscanner0 c 180 48
   then: chmod a+rw /dev/usb/usbscanner0
   ln -s /dev/usb/usbscanner0 /dev/usbscanner0

I can modprobe the scanner and it is found by sane-find-scanner.
when I run scanimage -L it doesn't find the scanner.
I ran scanimage -L with SANE_DEBUG_PLUSTEK=12 SANE_DEBUG_DLL=12 and I
get the following messages:
[plustek] drvopen()
[plustek] usbDev_open(/dev/usbscanner,0x04A9-0x220E)
[plustek] open failed: -1
Do you have any ideas what might be wrong?

Also, I wanted to install and use xsane to check it but I was unable to
build it correctly.
I think that it is a problem with trying to install non-RPM type
installations with RPM type installations on the same system. (gimp was
installed as a RPM and there are no header files)

Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Bob Venator
