plustek: Thread: Plustek Drivers

I have downloaded a plustek driver for my Genius ColorPage Vivid III.  I followed the steps that were printed on the install guide included with the driver.  I have had the following results (i downloaded the module for sane-1.0.7)


 tar xzf plustek-module-*.gz - No problem

 make all - no problem

 make install - no problem

 make load - Problem

 when I typed make load, my scanner light started flashing, then, the
 following messages came up:

 [root@Localhost plustek_driver]# make load
 /sbin/modprobe pr_drv || exit |
 /lib/modules/2.4.8-6mdk/misc/pt_drv.o : init_module : success
 Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters,
 including invalid IO or IRQ parameters
 modprobe: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.8-6mdk/misc/pr_drv.o failed
 modprobe: insmod pt_drv failed
 make: ***[Load] Error 1

 Any idea what happened?  (the scanner light remains flashing after these
 come up, but when i launch Xsane, it tells me 'no devices found'.  I am using Mandrake 8.2

Hi,

hard to say where the problem is, I assume, that there's 
a problem in the parport communication.
You might enalbe the modules debug output and send us
the output of dmesg after the make load step...
