that you work on a scanner driver
based on a lm9833 USB Chip.

Do you have a mailing list, when a driver
for this scanner is available.....

i am just ja newbe in linux with a suse 8.1 installation

You are already on the list ;-)
In general the 1240 should work somehow, but at least
I need someone who owns this scanner (at least you) and
who is willing or able to tweak the plustek driver code that
the scanner works...

Gerhard,

It may help to know that the CD (and the written manual!) which come with
the N670U are apparently identical to the CD and written manual which
come with the N1240U. At least, along with my N670U the manual and CD
offered support equally to the N1240U, too.

Based upon this, I strongly suspect that the differences between the two
scanners are minor indeed: that the two scanners differ in the in the USB
product ID number and in little else. No doubt, also some of the features
of the N1240U (such as higher resolution, as an obvious one) are disabled
or turned off in the N670U.

However, I do not have an N1240U, and I have not opened my N670U, either.
I only have that report from you back in January or February that someone
else has opened the N670U and found an LM9833 inside.

Hi Theodore,

you are right! I will try and set the correct settings for the 1240.
I will do this after SANE 1.0.9 has been released, but I expect some
problems when simply increasing the resolution values. At least I
need someone to test...
